New York Islanders promote FLOORBALL too

Two summers ago the Dallas Stars started a fitness initiative in elementary schools that took Floorball to some almost 200.000 students in the Dallas Metroplex Area.

A year ago or so the Gretzky Hockey School started an off-ice program - that we here call Floorball.
We must excuse the vendor xhockeyproducts that still does not seem to grasp the difference between #floorball and #floor hockey as they sell a unique floorball stick on a page (no link here lol) under the dubious Floor Hockey headline...

Well, Floorball is not the same thing as Floor Hockey...

And today the New York Islanders announced their own Floorball program for elementary and middle schools in New York..

We suspect that the Minnesota Wild does not have a clue that Floorball was first invented on Wayzata Boulevard in Minneapolis... But they ought to know that Erik Karlsson and all other Swedish (and Finnish, and Czech, and Swiss, and Danes and...Baltics.. well most of them) are raised with Floorball in School.

We hope to learn more about the New York program soon..

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
