Important words on American Floorball

Here comes a big big quote - read every letter - on how, America comes into a fast floorball focus!

"The Floorball family once again has the privilege and opportunity to return to the Americas, this time to Markham in Ontario in Canada, for the shootout between Canada and the USA for the Women´s WFCQ. For the international development the Americas is vital, since we are in pursuit to grow in big countries and hence these events should be put in the big international perspectives.

The Americas representatives and stakeholders must all drive in the same direction, because these events like the WFCQ´s are important. Even more important is to close the ranks and join forces, because next year we turn our eyes towards Belleville in Canada which will organise the Women´s U19 WFC, a historic first event outside of Europe. Take that opportunity to promote Floorball. Looking a bit longer ahead we will work together towards the 2021 World Games, being just recently awarded to Birmingham, Alabama in the USA. Here all stakeholders must start the planning together with the IFF in order to be prosperous and join the WG in Birmingham 2021.

Floorball has taken important steps forward, in order to reach our Vision 2020 and a place in the Olympic Games. The next task is to be ready later this year, when the IOC chooses the contenders for the “short list” of sports that have a possibility to enter the 2024 Olympic Games. With the new IOC President, Mr Thomas Bach, we see in his vision “Olympic Agenda 2020”, a lot of initiatives, including possible rotations of sports on the Olympic program, and hence the “upgrading” of the World Games."

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
