2014 Midwest Championship Floorball - First Results

The 4th Edition of the Midwest Floorball Championship is over. In total 11 teams participated. Players from 5 US states and of 8 different nationalities participated, including a player with experience from the German National team. A Malaysian born player travelled all the way from Oklahoma to participate. This years edition of the tournament was inaugurated by the new Tomah Mayor Ms. Shannon Hough and an acapella outstanding performance of the US National anthem aws sung by Ms. Nivea.

Chicago Innebandy wins an intense final - after trailing the Tomah, WI team All Nuts at half time - a crucial 2 min penalty in second period that changed the pace of the final. Chicago Innebandy won the Final in the Advanced division with 5-1. This is the third title of this Team in Tomah, WI. The only other team to win this title belongs to another Chicago team.

St Paul takes its first title as the Intermediate Champions. The game against Minneapolis Lakers went to a shootout in the Final and the final score was 5-4 to St. Paul.

The Rec Division was won by Wisconsin Crush as they outplayed the Hunters from Tomah WI 8-3. The crush team has roots in Wausau and Appleton, WI.

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
