School or knowledge Evolutions... and the race of the machine

This post does not claim to spell out truths - but it tries to understand changes - we all are subject to.

As our parents and grandparents went to school - much of what they did relied on copy and paste - I mean a mental copy and paste. Their brains were stuffed with information, that they had to recover fast and fluent and you know what - much of their work relied upon the retrieval of information - just as a hard drive is used.

Then as we ourselves went to school - much more emphasis relied on teamwork and the ability to look up information, at the library, in that book, at other sources like in a phone book or in a lexicon... If we continue the analogy with computers it feels like basic systems to find information in a PC and some basic networking tasks on a local area network.

So what is next?
Well then Internet swept in, so did computer games and "the phone screen hypnotize"... and that is where we are today. The next phase will present new tools like Google Now where AI and machine learning are integrated into our search functions. Then as we add the movements of the Internet of things - were almost all stuff are connected via the Internet and the probable development of the interface away from phone- or computer screens to a seemingly direct and instant connection from human senses - poff - right to the Internet... Think Google glass for now.. But in reality you will be connected constantly to the internet at any time and our human senses will be able to not only have access to all the knowledge in the world - we will also have much more, machine aided and refined ways to find the very best possible information there is... I think.

So in principle, the computer/internet thing will beat humans in the areas of absolute knowledge (or retrival of such) and also in the field of finding the very best possible information - both are indeed areas the school has been built around.
So what is then left to excel within - if we now accept these ideas?
That is an easy question to answer right now - so far Artificial Intelligence may not yet beat human creativity and it is almost like only through creativity that we can beat the machine - for now... Since in reality humans are better than computers on this (maybe humans are better on feelings too).
But, warning, it would not surprise us - if - one day we have a very creative production of ideas via machines too.

OK, but how in the world does this post fit into a Floorball web-site? Two ways: First to think clear with a fresh mind you must have a fresh body and we do say here - that Floorball is a good tool to keep that mind fresh in the race against the machine. Second Floorball has been proven to be a massive hit in many school systems over in Europe - so if we want the same PE (r)evolution here too... well, we have a mission for U dear reader!

Race the machine - with some Floorball.

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
