Helmet Sports - stay stylish and keep the brain in place

Helmet sports are sports where U either must or should use a helmet.
Like Amer. Football, Ice Hockey, Cycling, Down-hill skiing, Lacrosse and some other sports, well you can figure out more yourself. We also think here - that figure skating should use helmets too - mandate the use...
We have always been of the opinion that there is something suspicious about helmet sports. But why would a Floorball blog write about helmet sports?
Yeah, that is a question - easy to answer. The cost for concussions in the society is so utterly high - that if only a small amount of helmet classified athletes were inspired to play a non-helmet sport instead. Well then non-helmet sports would have so much more money to invest - in what we think a probable more healthy sporting activity. The only trick is that the monetary streams via saved money at health care expenses -is not directly connected to support other more safer activities. But that can not be our job to fix that too? Well, check this out, to us it is sensational news.

OK here are some cool news on helmets via the BBC;

This article claim - that helmets can probably be made out of paper instead of polystyrene. This design might create a helmet that is safer and just protect the skull better. Since the paper construction is supposed to absorb the impact forces much better than polystyrene.
If this holds to be true? Well then it ought to be time to outlaw ALL old helmet constructions? And the question is if not all previous constructions should be seen as flawed? And maybe someone should look into the testing procedures of helmets too? So let's keep an eye on the development of paper helmets and see if they can save on all the health costs for helmet sports.

Then this one - well to us it would absolutely make sense for all girls out figureskating.. And yes we know that the CDC claim cycling to be the most dangerous activity in terms of concussions (we think they mix up the sport cycling with traffic cycling - but that is another story). It is just to mandate the use of these helmets in figure skating and have the airbags payed for. Each airbag helmet costs from roughly 400 Euro's, approx 550 USD. Not a bad deal if you want to stay stylish and keep the brain in place at the same time.

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
