Let us put things in its real perspective

By turning things upside down.
A genius writer one time did that as he or she tried to explain the emergence of digital photography. The question raised was - think if it was the other way around - all had digital cameras to start with and someone came running with chemical film touting; LOOK what we have invented. It was at the time a very mindbending and refreshing exercise..

Pretend, can you pretend for a while, that the world is different. But it was only one thing that was different - you just have to switch place between Floorball and Ice Hockey for a moment...

Listen! The worlds largest Floorball league was a league in north America with professional teams ruling the world and it it was called the NFL (crazy acronym but still the National Floorball League).

In Sweden they came up with the idea to play Floorball on ice, with skates, protective equipment and real sturdy boards and slightly different rules and they added off-side to the game too. This sport exploded and spread fast to other countries - mainly in Europe and the IOC said something like "this sounds interesting" - Since this new sport called Ice Hockey had a big following among the youth and was widely used in the school systems.... It also seemed obvious that the newly invented sport Ice Hockey possibly could have influences on its older cousin Floorball... to create rather good Floorball players - the ice or the skates seemed to make wonders... This seemed to occur in particular - in the countries where kids started to play Ice Hockey...
You can add the rest by using your own imagination how things would look like as you play around with the idea that Floorball and Ice Hockey just switched place in all terms possible.

As you do this - you kind of get the perspective of things being fully upside down.

Then add the flavor by trying to understand this new scenario from a blog like this one - if we were trying to introduce the new revolutionary sport of Ice Hockey to the America's (instead of floorball).

What arguments would have been used?
Well we must have ice, we must have padding on the players, we must have a puck and a zamboni etcetera.
From this wild perspective it becomes obvious that the task to introduce Floorball - instead of the task to introduce Ice Hockey to an America - without any Ice Hockey - is probably about 100 times easier.
In reality we do think that the task to introduce Ice hockey as a new sport in America probably would have been almost impossible today - or at least very very hard. Just think about it? What do you think?

But we do think the possibilities to advance Floorball in north America - well, it is not a walk in the park - but it should not be that very hard either - at least not in comparison to what we just described.
So maybe it is time for us all to get our perspectives right?

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
