Floorball Paragames - on wheels starts tomorrow and...

For the first time we see a North American team...

IFF say:
"Seven countries will participate in the Manual Wheelchair Floorball tournament, played 11th - 13th of October in the sportshall "de Schare" in Breda, Holland.

Electric Wheelchair Hockey Floorball will also participate this time with Finnish and Dutch teams. The Manual wheelchair tournament is organised in collaboration Paragames Breda and the KNHB."
You find IFF's full story here

It includes the cult wheelchair movie from KNHB.

Mr. Greg Beaudin from Canada comments upon the Canadian team from Vancouver participating;

"The Canadians have no real expectations, other than to go have some fun and compete...their backgrounds in other wheelchair sports combined with their passion for hockey will ensure that they will put up a good fight."

Spin, a periodical PDF from Vancouver has an excellent article on the subject too - but its is under copyright and we have not had the time to ask for the required permissions here - maybe later OK

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
