"The Ball is Round"

It is an old expression meaning that we have a fair game..
But is it round?

We know from Soccer that they have experimented with different ideas on how to sew that ball together and how to make it even more round..
But is the Floorball ball round? Well yes and no. First it is probably round enough for most players, and as many knows, when we have a little damage to the ball so it is not round enough, it turns rather hard and crazy to play with.
Then from a more scientific point of view - a floorball ball is a rather non precise molded little thing in plastics so in absolute terms if is probably not as round as it can be.

But this discussion might miss the target. In case of you have closely studied on how a Floorball ball bounce, we think they have a clear tendency to at times bounce a bit in random ways. We think this mainly has to do with the holes and if an edge of a hole hits the floor or not. Perhaps the main seem inside the ball might affect a little on the typical trend too -that the ball does not always 100% bounce as you thought it would.

As Floorball first was played in Finland on small courts, they called it Sähly. In English that means fumble. And you know what, we think that name in a very nice way connects to the ball itself.
We think the ball should bounce as it does, it is just a part of a more "round" game.

This a "developed" version of a ball for Floorball that just showed up via Mr. Kim ;-)

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
