Gretzky - Crosby - Salming and our bold prediction

No-one would probably disagree too much if we say that Wayne Gretzky is the largest Ice Hockey Icon ever. Many would say that he was also the best player ever or at least well ahead his peers.
Some might say that Bobby Hull or Bobby Orr - or one of the most incredible Russians should be counted up there too as the best ever. The question might be if we measure who is best or who people thinks about - well that question has an obvious answer.

Not too many would disagree if we today write that Sidney Crosby is now best in his generation. Some other names would jump up here too. But...

The main idea with this post is to point out the largest names in hockey and try to understand what most people would answer if we asked who is the best Ice Hockey player? And so far we suspect that most of you would agree that the names we mention in this post above are the most common "household names" in Hockey.

Even if Borje Salming was selected to be on the IIHF last century team as one defender out of two - it is still a fact that not too many would mention his name - not at least in North America - as we asked about the best player..

Here comes our bold prediction.

Let's say that our firm idea - that Sweden has just been a "test market" for the new sport of Floorball. Let's continue to say that we are convinced the same will happen on other big Hockey markets.
With the same power in Canada and the USA - this would mean about 1 million - no only one million per country - but in total 2 million licensed Floorball players in North America and hey, toss in a bunch in Mexico too... Yup as a rough estimation.

On top of this you have to imagine that Salming's brand in Floorball is one of the most dominant...
Our bold prediction therefore is... with the same development in North America as in North Europe, ( well in parts of central Europe and Singapore too). And if Salming as a company might be able to retain their Floorball market shares - or even build it further..

We only have one conclusion, Borje Salming will become the most well known Ice Hockey name ever in North America...
You do not believe us? OK, lets see in 30 years time and well after Floorball makes it to the Olympics...

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
