Mr. Houman has a blog - style - Gold Mine

One of the best Floorball blogs in the world is Danish and behind it is Mr. Steen Houman. Of course much material come served in Danish - but now and then English material umps up too.
Yesterday an interesting article on Slovakia came up on our screen//

Here is a short excerpt..

"#1 Ice-hockey is big in Slovakia, but how is it with Floorball?
Ice-hockey and football are most popular sports in Slovakia, unfortunately floorball is still considered as a girl sport or sport for boys that weren't good enough to make career in ice-hockey  Moreover it’s still not very common sport, people are still wondering what do I have in my long tool-bag  It’s becoming popular mostly at universities or high schools, therefore our national team is very young.

#2 Is the influence from ice-hockey big?
Because of the short floorball history in Slovakia we don’t have any real floorball coaches. Most of the coaches are X - ice-hockey coaches, coaches of national teams are all from Czech Republic. Many X - ice-hockey players are in national teams too , for example our best scorer from this WFCQ Martina Stašová is originally ice-hockey player. There is a big influence of ice-hockey now, but I hope we can have some real floorball generation in future."

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
