Hockey Canada start Elementary School Floorball program

Breaking news.  And at this time we do not know much more...
But we do dare yo say Congrats Canada - you have clever people working up there.

Hockey Canada has partnered with Floorball Canada and FloorballPro on the development of Floorball: An Introduction to Hockey. This 10-lesson curriculum is a resource for elementary school teachers in the Canadian school system working with students in Grades 3-6.

The 10-lesson curriculum includes lesson plans focusing on:
  • floorball basics
  • stickhandling
  • passing
  • shooting
  • game play 
Each lesson plan has three components: Getting Ready, FUNdamentals and Learn to Play. Sample rubrics and tests are included in the appendices."

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
