Let's Play Scientist

This is the picture:

Let us first clarify that the general trend is slightly going down as we look at search index for Floorball, Innebandy, Salibandy and another funky names we use. The sad thing is that there are even more names in use like Sähly and... well we do not know em' all ourselves..
Why is the general trend going down?
We are convinced this is happening by the migration from the regular web with more static webpages to more activity on propriety sites like facebook, twitter and in principle activity on social media that does not include search - where people does not search as much for new information. It could also describe a trend where the global information has transferred from the Big International or National news to Local news and with social media we start now to talk about Personal News as a rather dominant pattern. This is why it is so important to have leading figures - within Floorball - that promote the sport with personal news. There are a handful of good people working on this out on the net using social media (and we love em) - but many more are mute - and we do not understand why.
If we can not do this (social personal Floorball news) good  or decent - suspect we may kiss the Olympics, maybe not goodbye - but we will most likely kiss it delayed...
The trend that goes down in the model above also are common for other sports so another explanation is that computer games steal time from regular sports.. this could play a role too - but irrespective of this it only makes the matter so much more urgent. Since we want active people. Right?

Beside of this we see a few dominating patterns. The largest search term for the Sport we like is still Innebandy - it is twice as large (the Swedish word) as Floorball and it has regained popularity and is up like where it used to be. We interpret this as the popularity being larger than ever. The next word worth to spend some time on here is Floorball - that just now sets a new top ever best search record at Google, It is almost twice as big as before - so all people that are trying to promote the expression Floorball seem to have something going (or in principle we have yet again to say THANK YOU GERMANY). And yes both Unihockey and Salibandy shows a very good peak right now too.. But to be blunt if it had not we could have closed our shop right?

Now you just imagine on how this graph would have looked like if we all would have tossed funky names out and just promoted Floorball instead? Dream away..

The geographical picture looks like this

There is nothing strange about this - Central and Northern Europe is the dominant place.

What kind of further conclusion may we draw from this? First we hope the IFF discuss things like this. We also hope they use tools like this and understand the transfer from Big news via Local News to Personal News. It is a new media landscape forming right now. And Yes Youtube is a leading part of this!

Well, as always we have a crazy idea, maybe it is not a solution but it is a refreshing thought in line with ideas from LTAD (we just love the idea that "TRADITIONS STOP DEVELOPMENT") and that mad idea we will most likely toss up, soon as some sorta of follow up on this scientific play...

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
