A Promise is a Promise - How to spot the Future

This hot summer we ran a series of posts that focused upon a very specific man and some of the things he has written upon - How to Spot the Future.
Do not worry - we will link to all these posts below.

But we promised that we would try to wrap things up with a more general sum-up on all these posts. And it is better to be late than sorry..

In essence Floorball as a sport comes out very very well as we tried to figure out how this new sport fits into the rules as defined by Mr Goetz at Wired (he knows rather well how to do his thing) on WHAT IS NEXT.
And from our general conclusion - Floorball is what is next - it fits extremely well into what Mr Goetz say the future must have...

As we went through the ideas & rules as spelled out by him it was only in two main areas Floorball came up a bit weak.

The first Weak area was a bit of a surprise - and probably the part that taught us ourselves the most here - yes, we learned something ourselves too, cool huh?
In essence one part of the rules, as defined by Mr. Goetz on how to spot the future, said that it is not in essence the product itself you must promote. Instead he talked a bit about the infrastructure surrounding a product and a service - like there must be real people out there to take care of stuff.
Yepp this is obvious and bright. But the interesting thing as we tried to relate this to Floorball is that what we think the sport really need.... as we want to expand Floorball fast... It is not sticks and balls... and it is not printed matters or funny websites.
Nope, we need educated teachers, coaches and leaders. This is a main part of the solution on how to fast get Floorball into the future - and this is a weak side? Hmm we must develop this - are you ready to help - and what can you do? No it is not about to start a youth group in your own street corner - this is about to get real and just change the face of Sports as you know it.

The next area, where Floorball turn up - like a raw egg - or a freshman. Is - when we did the evaluation upon Floorball based upon the communication principles as discussed  by Mr. Goetz.
This a bit of a trickier part since we are probably very biased from all the other "crxp" we have posted here before...
In essence Floorball communications is decent and rather basic - all over the board. But in principle we have two main issues -
Do you see the head tag line on this blog - that ends with "is this love?"
Well, that is actually a sarcastic attack upon the dilemma with a sport that switch its own name each time you cross a crazy national border marked on a map.  Let us yet again say that we do love Germany!
You can go figure yourself what that means in terms of penetration on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram -- eh well on the Internet as a whole.
Beside of this - we miss one more thing - we miss pronounced leaders that USE social media to SELL Floorball.
No they are not 100% non-existing. We have a handful of individuals that work the Internet very well and we hope for their own future as much as we hope for Floorball's future.
This is not a problem for Floorball as movement alone - many big Corporations have this problem too, with people in the lead - that is leading like it was 1979 or something.
This will change - for the sake of Floorball to get into the hands of way more kids (at school and at home). Yes the ultimate goal is not - at least not to us to get into the Olympics - but to get Floorball into all the hands of kids that might benefit from some fun Floorball - the Olympics will only be a trick to get us there. ;-)

This is our very final post and Opinion on the subject as described by Mr. Goetz - on how to spot the future - as we relate his article to Floorball. Here - the other posts:
and the second

"Thomas Goetz is Executive Editor of Wired Magazine, overseeing everything from story conception to cover packages. In addition to guiding editorial content, Goetz writes frequently for the magazine on health and technology."
It is our understanding that beside of  this article, that we refer to here, Mr. Goetz, also have been presenting the subject "how to spot the future" to live audiences. In his article he defines 7 rules on "how to spot the future".
Since Floorballcentral is convinced that Floorball is what is next in sports we take these rules - as they are defined by Mr. Goetz - and see how Floorball as a sport and a movement match up to these rules. We are fully aware that what Mr. Goetz wrote in his article mainly aim for "tech" development. This is not something we see as an obstacle. This is our very last post that relates to the following article by Mr. Goetz.

Read it at its source and get the real feel for what is next.

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
