State of the Times. ..

Or how Floorball relates to Hockey in May 2012

In Europe;
We know that many top notch teams in Europe use Floorball for dry land practice. Including the Russian Male National Ice Hockey team, this since we have seen a video of them doing Floorball, dude.
We know that many hockey clubs in Europe also have Floorball operations, this include of course the mother club of the Sedin twins, but only... for instance.
Today we say all west Europeans playing in NHL are raised with Floorball in school - or in other ways.
Players like Mats Sundin, Marian Gaborik, the Hossa brothers, Mikael Granlund and Mats Zuccarello etc all have related to Floorball as they talk about their own development as Hockey players, in or another way..

In Canada;
Hockey Canada Skill academies have used Floorball for almost a decade. Last fall a special Floorball stick was released - designed by Hockey Canada. Roger Neilson’s Hockey and Coaching school and Hockey Jam sessions in Vancouver embrace and use Floorball like many serious coaches and Hockey scouts -Anthony Herrington is one of the significant pioneers - and others - this is just as a few examples since Canada seems to be way ahead in this matter...of....

The USA;
However, one could say..
Hockey organizations are implementing floorball into their programs and daily training practices all over the USA.
The American Development Model (USA Hockey) say Floorball is good. Otherwise they mainly promote the idea that Hockey players may engage in many other activities (research show that this provide players with several benefits that makes them better also in their main sport) but ADM does not specifically promote Floorball (even if they have said they do it in Colorado) - and we may only add our own pronounced - yet - to this line.
Some Hockey operations in California involve Floorball, as well as some operations related to the CHL as well as in Louisiana. The Hockey zone in Tampa has a kids program in place. We are aware of some significant Hockey teaching “academies” in the US, both on the east coast as well as in the Midwest that have been “talking” Floorball for some time. There are also programs in Alaska that relates Hockey to Floorball.
And finally it was just recently released from Atlanta that they start a Floorball program for Hockey players.
Today the specialist Ice Hockey store Hockey Monkey announced that they now offer Floorball twigs in the USA... yes you can find them online
http://www.hockeymonkey.com/floorball.html - but hey, buy twigs from us instead at Twigs to Grab - it’s closer ;-)
And if they have it - we have it too ;-) http://www.floorballcentral.org/p/twigs-to-grab.html

Floorballcentral is however certain that Floorball will change the Hockey culture in USA with a significant impact - just look and imagine the “test market” Scandinavia and get ready to feel the awe..

- last in is a loser!

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
