OXDOG the full story

Floorball Shop Spain: Hello Mattias, could you tell us how appeared the idea of OXDOG?

Mattias: Hello, well since me and my partners Joacim Bergström and Marko Sompa have more than 20years experience together of production and selling floorball we took that chance to start our own brand from the start. It’s been very many long days and nights but we are very happy with our decision. And as you know this is only the start.

FSS: What's the meaning of the name: OXDOG?

Mattias: After market check and feedback from the consumer we decided to choose Oxdog since is a catchy and cool name. A OX is a very strong animal and that combined with the DOG that is smart, fast and stay loyal to you his whole life.

FSS: Create a competitive brand in a market with established competitors is never easy. What was the hardest in the beginning of the OXDOG project?

Mattias: Since we done this so many years and have so many good contacts both in production and sales there was not so hard, the problem are always to get the finance in the start up. Timing was also perfect to start up a new very good brand that know what players like. Hardest was to find the own style, I think we succeeded well with the name, logo and the color. In the end, consumer decide, feedback is very good.

FSS: What’s your role within the company?

Mattias: My role are handling the production process together with Joacim Bergström and also I handle the sales and the Teams in Sweden and SPAIN !

FSS: How is being accepted OXDOG into the best floorball countries (Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic and Switzerland)?

Mattias: Let’s start with Finland where Oxdog already are one of the biggest brand already and where there is many national team players in both lady and mens team and many shops selling. In Sweden we just started the sales for real and we take city by city fast and sales out from shops are very good. Czech and Switzerland are also selling good and we have very good distributors in Switzerland and we have our own company doing good sales in Czech. This year they kick off faster that we could imagine and for next year they will be strong!

FSS: What's the difference between OXDOG and other floorball brands?

Mattias: I think the customer gets what he pays for, we have real Kevlar and Carbon in our items, example CARBON T2000 in our top model. We use 7 different material in our sticks. Biggest different from other are the Stick Balance System (SBS) where you can choose your own stick feeling yourself.

FSS: OXDOG is the only brand whose website can be read up to 10 languages. What advantages does this give you versus your competitors?

Mattias: We have so many features and details in our sticks and for us it’s so important to us that all players can read about Oxdog sticks many details in their own mother languages. We got fast so many new Oxdog fans from many different countries and we like to serve them well!

FSS: What's your aim for the coming years?

Mattias: Our slogan are “ Other will follow” , I think there you find the answer.

FSS: What kind of buyer is OXDOG looking for?

Mattias: Any player that really like the sport and search for a brand he can trust to really help him develop his game!

FSS: OXDOG has arrived to Spain through Floorball Shop Spain. Do you think OXDOG will succeed in our country?

Mattias: Yes of course. Why should Spain be different?
