The Olympic Torch - carried by a Floorballer

- It´s a great thing for a small sport like us, that one of our young players gets this opportunity. I believe it will further advance the positive development of the sport through these years," said Danish Floorball UnionChairman chairman Simon Brodersen.

More on this story here at the IFFhttp://www.floorball.org/news.asp?id_tiedote=2207

Here from Danish media http://www.bt.dk/danmark/de-skal-loebe-med-ol-faklen. And guess what, since the Danes use the word Floorball - the Google translation works and it writes Floorball - on some other languages it generate words like Hockey and Floor Hockey as Google translate the name of the game.

Selected is Annika Bengtsson, who is an active floorball player and coach for the Danish national U19 Floorball team. Congrats Annika - Good luck and per no doubt, you seem to be the right person for this job!
I think - wow this is great news, outstanding - and something was mentioned last night on Twitter that related Floorball to the Olympic games in London 2012 , I could not just figure out what.
Lets hope that the producer of the televised inauguration torch run - overlaps some images from the sport that "our" runner is involved in - perhaps that is wishing for a bit too much at this point?

Caution

Research suggest that eye-injuries are more common in Floorball as compared to Tennis, but less common as compared to Squash (similar to Racquetball).
To minimize this risk of injury Floorballcentral recommend: Use certified protective eye-wear (mandated in many European areas for the youth). Do not lay down on the court. Follow the rules strict on stick height.
